PRE EMPLOYMENT INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAM

Since 2006 Absolute Safety has been operating the Pre Employment Industrial Training Program in cooperation with the Government of Alberta, and Southeastern Alberta employers. This program provides oil and gas, construction and industrial training to both new and transitioning workers to assist them in obtaining and retaining employment in one of these fields. We have had good success in this program, with many of our graduates going on to long term employment. Many have returned to our office to thank us for the assistance we have provided them. As well, we have been able to increase our client company base because the quality of the persons leaving this program has become well known in the community.

If you or someone you know is currently unemployed and is looking for an exciting new career in the oil and gas, construction or industrial sector, call us today! We will be running new sessions throughout 2012, and we would love to help you!

To Qualify:

Our training program is available to all Brooks and area residents who are currently unemployed. Unemployed persons can be on regular Employment Insurance Benefits, on Income Support, or be receiving no government assistance. Since seating is limited, there is an assessment/application process.

We invite all interested parties to apply, but basic requirements for this training program are:

- Ability to financially support yourself through the training. Although the courses and occupational training is funded by the government, living expenses such as rent, food, clothing and transportation are not.

- Language skills assessed at a Level 6 English or higher are required

- Basic math, reading and writing skills are required.

- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions such as extreme hot and cold is necessary

- Ability to work long hours and away from home

- An Alberta Class 5 or higher Driver's Licence is preferred

- You must be able to commit to working in the Province of Alberta for a minimum period of 1 year

What will I do in the Training Program?

The Pre Employment Industrial Training Program begins with 17 consecutive days of in-class training. This training will include: H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Confined Space Entry and Rescue Awareness and Fall Protection, just to name a few. You must be able to attend every day of training, and you are not able to pick and choose which courses you want to attend.

Once the classroom portion of the training is complete, Absolute Safety assists in finding you employment. Please note: Absolute Safety cannot guarantee employment with any company, although we do assist you in job search and provide you with job leads.

Once you are employed with a company in the the oil and gas, construction or other industrial occupation, Absolute Safety will coordinate with your new employer to determine any additional training you will require in order for you to be a more valuable employee. This occupational training may include; upgrading your licence to a Class 3 or Class 1, training you for Heavy Equipment, or additional occupational courses specific to the industry you have been employed.

Absolute Safety will continue to montior your employment success for a period of 6 months. We will also assist you with any job related issues you may have during that time.
